Some would have us believe it's not possible; I disagree. Caught early enough with an owner willing to accept they've made mistakes and are prepared to LISTEN can make all the difference.
There's an old saying "businesses don't fail, people do". My version; "businesses don't fail, the man (or woman) at the top does". I like being specific.
Turning around any business is a challenge and one I have faced many times. It's hard for anyone to have to face facts but once done... one can see a massive cloud lift from their shoulders and even a smile begin to break through.
Running a business isn't rocket science.
Running a business isn't complicated.
Running a business is about keeping it simple, being open to the people around you, being transparent, and above all... not trying to be too cleaver and overly complicating everything.
I love hotels... they're so easy to get right (the bigger they are, the easier they become!) and for so many... it becomes hard work because that's they way they justify their existence.
In my book (yep! here comes the plug!) 'BUCK Convention' I say "go build a business that works... don't go to work in a business". Sadly most never get this.
